SkyGuard teams with ZoomSafer to Deliver Fleet Management Innovation
ZoomSafer, the leading provider of policy management software to prevent distracted driving, and SkyGuard, provider of fleet management systems to increase fleet productivity, cost effectiveness and safety, announced a partnership today to provide innovative technology solutions to help corporations monitor and manage risks stemming from employee use of mobile phones while driving.
The partnership uniquely combines ZoomSafer's FleetSafer policy management software with SkyGuard's fleet management system. As a result, corporations can proactively and simultaneously encourage employees to utilize company owned vehicles and company issued smart phones in a safe, legal and responsible manner.
From now on, when an employee drives a vehicle equipped with the SkyGuard service, his/her smart phone will automatically enter into safe driving mode thereby eliminating the dangerous temptation to text or email while driving and protecting the employer from crashes, risks and liability.
"Today's businesses are aware of the swiftly increasing risks associated with distracted driving, and many are enacting employee policies to define acceptable use of mobile phones while driving," said Matt Howard, CEO of ZoomSafer. "The combination of FleetSafer and SkyGuard gives corporations a simple and reliable way to combat the increasing dangers associated with distracted driving."
"The simple truth is that mobile phones compete very effectively for our attention in every aspect of life - at home, at work, even when we're driving," said SkyGuard's Chairman, J.D. Power, III. "As a platform for delivering innovative fleet management services, SkyGuard is pleased to partner with FleetSafer to make it easier for government and corporate fleet managers to embrace solutions to prevent distracted driving."

SkyGuard Fleet Management Services Now Integrated with Garmin Commercial Portable Navigation Device
SkyGuard, a provider of fleet management systems, has reached an agreement to integrate their services with Garmin's commercial Portable Navigation Devices (PNDs). This integrated service will enable SkyGuard's customers to create and optimize daily routes for their drivers, send those routes directly to the drivers at the beginning of the day, and send schedule updates and text messages to the drivers throughout the day - using the PND as the source of communication. The total solution provides customers with the benefit of reduced fuel consumption, increased efficiency, enhanced safety and greater customer satisfaction.
Both the PNDs and SkyGuard's web-based application have been enhanced to work together, seamlessly. The PND is connected to the SkyGuard telematics device installed in the customer's fleet vehicles. Once connected, the customer's dispatcher has the ability to send individual addresses or full pre-scheduled routes directly to their driver's Garmin PND where they appear on the screen in chronological order. When the addresses appear on the PND, the driver can generate turn-by-turn directions with only a few taps on the screen. When finished, the driver indicates that the job has been completed by a few more taps, then moves on to the next address in the route. The enhanced service also allows for simplified text messaging between the dispatcher using the application and the driver using the PND. Drivers can easily see the message on the dash-mounted Garmin screen and quickly select a pre-programmed response with minimal distraction. This creates a safer, more accurate communication method than cellular phones.
Since 2005, the SkyGuard system has provided the ability for customers to track vehicles online, but the communication with the driver has been limited to sending cellular text messages and emailed driving directions. "In the past, the methods of communication between the dispatcher and the driver had the potential to create distractions that could be dangerous to the driver and others on the road," commented Gary Wilfert, SkyGuard's Chief Operations Officer. "With Garmin, the communication is simplified and thus, safer." In addition to the improved communication and enhanced safety provided by the integrated system, the connection between the two systems ensures that accurate records of the routes and associated messaging can be downloaded and stored. Wilfert remarked, "Both the SkyGuard system and the Garmin devices are valuable tools for fleet managers, but this totally integrated solution yields more benefits to the customer than can be offered by each product separately."

SkyGuard and SpeedGauge Partner to Provide Fleet Owners with Actionable Vehicle Speed and Location Data
SkyGuard, a provider of fleet management systems, and SpeedGauge, a provider of software and services for real-time analysis and utilization of commercial vehicle GPS data, have reached an agreement to offer SpeedGauge services to SkyGuard's commercial fleet customers. SkyGuard provides the customer's vehicle location and speed information collected via GPS to SpeedGauge whose web-based application analyzes those data points in real time. This integrated service will enable customers to identify and act on a broader range of high-risk driving behavior, thus lowering fleet operating risks that result from excessive speeding.
Since 2005, the SkyGuard system has captured vehicle speed and location information, allowing customers to set a desired threshold for notification, but until now they have not been able to easily tell if their drivers were exceeding the posted speed limit. The agreement with SpeedGauge will allow SkyGuard to provide that bit of crucial information. "We at SkyGuard are excited about the opportunity to work with SpeedGauge and pleased to add this enhancement to our product line," remarked Gary Wilfert, SkyGuard's Chief Operations Officer. "SpeedGauge's data analysis service will provide our customers with extremely valuable information about their fleet's daily activities that can be used to lower costs as well as increase productivity, safety and customer satisfaction."
SpeedGauge's patented driver-behavior analytics service in use daily by diverse commercial fleets in the United States, Canada, the UK and the Republic of Ireland. "Speeding is a leading cause of vehicle accidents and we are pleased that our service can make a difference, not just on Interstates but also on rural highways and other surface streets where so many accidents occur", said Jonathan Hubbard, President of SpeedGauge, Inc. "We look forward to being part of SkyGuard's continued innovation."
