Companies in a wide array of industries, with various sized fleets, are improving performance, reducing overhead and protecting their assets with SkyGuard Fleet. Here are a few of their stories:
Good Electric Uses SkyGuard to Verify Payroll and Provide Accurate Customer Billing
Good Electric provides electrical service and repair to approximately 2,300 customers in the Metro Atlanta area. For the Owner, Mark Good, who wanted to reduce their fleet's mileage, it made sense to have technicians take company-provided vehicles home with them in the evening after their last customer stop. Then he wanted them to begin each work day at a customer location instead of coming first to the office. Unfortunately, this gave the company no way to know when the work day actually started and ended for the employees.
They had tried a passive vehicle tracking system at one time but that required the trucks to come into the office for a manual download. “A complete waste of time,” commented Good. "I didn't have the time to download reports and then pour over them for hours. I needed real time information, not data days later." So he contacted SkyGuard.
SkyGuard’s service acts like a remote time-clock for the company. A switch is connected to the SkyGuard device and the technician turns the switch on when he arrives at his first job and off when he leaves his last job. Location information is collected at the time the switch is triggered, which verifies the hours worked.
“..before GPS tracking, I had no idea where or what our trucks were doing out there, now I do.” - Good Electric
In addition, the SkyGuard service has allowed the company to reduce fuel by optimizing each technician's route and by monitoring the speed of the vehicles. Speeding wastes significant amounts of fuel and increases the risks of vehicle crashes. Customer service has improved as well. Good Electric can send an invoice for labor knowing they have the records to back up their technician's time on the job. Good says, "We once had a customer that we were billing on a time and material basis. When we sent them the bill they called and said there was no way that we were there on the dates and times that we said. I printed off reports and gave them to our customer."

Pestban of Georgia Relies on SkyGuard to Help Keep Customers Happy
Pestban of Georgia provides pest control, termite and wildlife removal services for customers in northern GA and Greenville, SC. A fleet of approximately 45 vehicles are on the road daily and Al Forrette, Pestban's General Manager, wanted to be sure those vehicles were at the right location at the scheduled time and be able to prove it. “It is important to be able to validate to our customers we are there when we say we are there,” Forrette states.
To ensure that quality of service, Pestban needed to know that personal errands were not delaying customer visits. "...vehicles being used for personal use is against our policy," said Forrette. "In addition, we hoped to see a reduction in overall miles in the fleet due to reduced (assumed) personal use thus saving fuel, depreciation and maintenance costs on the vehicles."
Pestban had used a different GPS service in the past but was not impressed with the results. After researching a variety of fleet management services, Pestban chose SkyGuard over the competition. Forrette cites the value of the product and the personal service he received are the factors that led to the selection of SkyGuard.
Pestban has been very happy with their decision. When asked for specifics, Forrette replied, "Increased faith in our own quality of service has to be the most important effect. We have definitely improved what we feel about our quality of service to our customers."
“Your service is second to none and I do not give out compliments very easily!” - Pestban of Georgia

Irvine Mechanical finds better technology and support with SkyGuard Fleet
Irvine Mechanical, a commercial HVAC mechanical contractor in Orlando, Florida, had used a fleet management system in the past to track their 17 vehicles. But, according to Controller Sanford Swan, they had problems with reliability and reporting.
“We researched the market for several years,” he said. The company ultimately selected SkyGuard Fleet, because “we were looking for a product from a company that had experience in the communications industry. We felt they would have a better understanding of what was required to accomplish the tasks we required.”
“Through the use of GPS and wireless technology, they are able to provide increased capacity and a better signal at a better price.”

Mr. Swan said he's pleased with his new technology. “We have found the system more reliable than our old system,” he said. “Through the use of GPS and wireless technology, they are able to provide increased capacity and a better signal at a better price.”
SkyGuard Fleet also provides superior service. “We have been very pleased with the technical support, both during the demo period and after the sale,” Mr. Swan said.
Heritage Heating and Plumbing serves customers better with SkyGuard Fleet
Heritage Heating and Plumbing of Auburn, New Hampshire, uses SkyGuard Fleet to keep its 40 trucks running on schedule, said Information Systems Manager Charles Tapley.
“In our quest for a higher level of customer satisfaction, one of the biggest things we have to deal with is arriving on time,” he said. “If you give somebody an eight a.m. to ten a.m. timeframe, there's no excuse for not being there at eight. And that first call also sets the tone for your whole day. If you're late for the first call, you're late for the rest of the day.”
“I think if another company were to receive the level of service that we've gotten from them in making the most of the product, they couldn't go wrong. I wouldn't hesitate whatsoever to go with them. And, we've definitely seen an ROI.” - Heritage Heating and Plumbing
Heritage uses the system's automatic reporting feature to fine-tune its operations and improve efficiency. “We picked up 15 minutes here, a half-hour there, extended lunch breaks, things like that,” Mr. Tapley said. “In the end, we figure we probably paid for the system in the first year just in tracking down that time.”
SkyGuard Fleet tech support has been very responsive in responding to any questions, Mr. Tapley added. “I think if another company were to receive the level of service that we've gotten from them in making the most of the product, they couldn't go wrong. I wouldn't hesitate whatsoever to go with them. And, we've definitely seen an ROI.”
